Periodic Table of Tools Poster by Theodore Gray (36x20 in.)

Created in the style of author Theodore Gray's world-famous periodic table of the elements, this 36” x 20” poster will delight anyone who uses and enjoys tools. Never before has there been such a beautiful presentation of so many interesting tools, both usual and unusual, expected and unexpected alike.

The arrangement follows loosely the characteristic of the regular periodic table: tools with similar functions in each column, getting heavier as you move down the rows. The diagonal line between metals and non-metals on the right side becomes a line between drills and wrenches. The fiery 17th column, the halogens, is a column of tools that use heat, including soldering, welding, casting, and 3D printing.

If you know anyone who is at all handy, or just appreciates the beauty of mechanical things, we guarantee that they will love this poster!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

We recommend a few small nails, several pins, or high-quality double-sided tape. The paper does not tear easily, so nails are unlikely to rip through it unless it's pulled on.
Yes! We have the "giant" 53" x 27" double-sided version for classrooms and this smaller 40" x 20" single-sided version for offices, bedrooms, and workshops.

No guns on posters!

I really was excited to get my tools poster, but was disappointed when it came and there was a gun used as an example. This poster was for my middle school classroom and cannot depict such things. I did find a way to remove the picture from the poster, but it doesn't look the same.

Hi Christine! Thank you for sharing that feedback. It looks like you're referencing #86, which is a screw gun that was designed for novelty to look like a handgun. Although it doesn't shoot bullets, it probably isn't the best choice for artwork that may go in a classroom. We will look at using a different photo in the next print run.

Periodic Table of Tools

I gave the Periodic Table of Tools to my husband for his birthday. He loved it! It's going to hang in his workshop. It's quite unique, clever, and very nicely done. A great gift for a tool hound.
