Yes. Genius Lab Gear ships worldwide. International shipping is typically $20–$40 depending on your destination and is calculated at checkout. Delivery usually takes 2–6 weeks. If your order includes embroidery, add an additional 2–4 weeks on top of that.
Additional taxes and duties may be charged by your local customs authority upon delivery. The recipient is responsible for those fees.
Once your package is handed off to your local national carrier, tracking updates may be less frequent until final delivery.
Please note: we are unable to ship to certain countries due to consistently high rates of transit loss. You will be notified at checkout if shipping is unavailable to your region.
Orders ship within 24 hours on business days. For embroidered orders, add 2–4 weeks for production. In most cases it takes about 2 weeks, but can take up to 4 depending on order volume.
Shipping is calculated at checkout. As a general guide, a single lab coat runs roughly $8–$11, and around $30 for 10 coats. Economy and expedited options are available. Ordering as a group with your lab can significantly reduce the per-coat shipping cost. We ship to all US states and Puerto Rico.

The Louis (men's), Curie (women's) and Alma (maternity) lab coats are made from 100% USA-grown cotton twill. It's a proprietary weave: durable, tightly woven, and medium-weight. The cotton is finished with softening and stain-release processes using non-chemical methods. The Rosalind and The George flame-retardant lab coats are a FR-treated 88% Cotton/12% Nylon blend.
Polyester and poly-cotton blends melt onto skin when exposed to flame. Cotton burns slowly under intense heat but does not melt, which makes emergency coat removal much safer. It's one of the most important material choices we made. Plus, it’s much more comfortable.
No. Genius Lab Gear offers both the Louis and Curie in black as well as white. Black lab coats have become increasingly popular in research and industry settings. The color you wear is typically a lab or institution preference, not a safety requirement. Check with your lab safety officer if you're unsure.
The Louis, Curie, and Alma are 100% cotton, which is a better choice than polyester in a fire situation, but they are not FR-rated or flame-retardant certified. The Rosalind and The George lab coats are UL and NFPA 2112/NFPA 70E certified flame retardant and arc flash resistant to Category 2.
Most research scientists, lab technicians, and students working in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, and related fields are required to wear lab coats. They protect against splashes, contamination, and accidental exposure. Whether they're required in your specific setting depends on your institution and the type of work you're doing.
Genius Lab Gear lab coats are accepted in most standard laboratory environments, including introductory chemistry and biology labs. If your institution requires specific compliance markings (FR, CE, etc.) or has laundering requirements, check with your lab safety officer before purchasing.
It depends on the experiment. Many physics labs don't require lab coats, but if yours does, Genius Lab Gear lab coats meet the general standard for academic lab environments. Confirm with your instructor.
A lab coat covers your arms, torso, and upper legs. It provides broader protection and is the standard garment for most lab environments. An apron covers only the front of the torso and is best suited for specific tasks like handling strong acids, where it's worn in addition to a lab coat, not instead of one.
Cotton, like most lab coat materials, will absorb strong acids and may develop holes after exposure. When working with strong acids, always layer a neoprene, rubber, or PVC apron over your coat and wear acid-resistant gloves. The Louis, Curie, Alma, Rosalind, and George lab coats also have a convertible collar that pops up into Howie style to protect your chest from splashes. A proper research-grade lab coat should reach approximately mid-thigh to the knee. This gives you enough coverage for most lab work while still allowing comfortable movement. However, many healthcare lab coats are shorter and not appropriate for lab work. All Genius Lab Gear lab coats are designed with this critical length requirement for research in mind. See the sizing section below for how to choose the right size.
All of our lab coats are machine washable, but certain restrictions must be considered. For full care instructions including stain removal, temperature guidelines, and what to avoid, see our Lab Coat Washing Guide: geniuslabgear.com/blogs/for-scientists/lab-coats-how-to-clean-wash

Do not order your regular lab coat size. Genius Lab Gear lab coats fit differently than typical medical or generic lab coats. Measure yourself first while wearing your normal lab clothes:
Bust/Chest: widest part, under your armpits, with a full inhale
Waist: about 6–8 inches below your armpits
Hips: widest point, feet shoulder-width apart
The size chart shows the maximum measurements per size. All three measurements must be at or below the listed numbers for that size. Most people's size is determined by their chest/bust measurement.
The easiest way to find a great lab coat fit is to use our Lab Coat Size Finder page.
Size up. If you're between sizes, or if you prefer a looser fit for layering or long days in the lab, we recommend going up a size. Most customers tell us they prefer the slightly roomier fit.
Yes. The hidden adjustable belt can pull the waist in by up to 8 inches. This adjustment is not reflected in the size chart numbers, so if your waist measurement would push you into a larger size but your chest/bust fits a smaller one, the belt can compensate.
Louis (men's): S through 4XL
Curie (women's): XXS through 4XL
Alma (maternity): S through 3XL

Yes. The Curie women's lab coat runs from XXS to 4XL, and the hidden adjustable belt helps accommodate a range of body shapes. We surveyed over 800 female scientists specifically about fit issues and designed the Curie with those insights in mind. For a fit guide covering plus-size and petite considerations, see our buying guide: geniuslabgear.com/blogs/for-scientists/petite-plus-sized-lab-coats-women-size-charts. When you're ready to size yourself, the Curie size chart is here: geniuslabgear.com/pages/womens-curie-lab-coat-size-chart
Possibly not. The Curie size chart was updated in November 2024. If you previously ordered using the old chart, re-measure before reordering to confirm your size.

One recommendation: if this is your first Genius Lab Gear lab coat, order without embroidery first to confirm the fit. Embroidered coats cannot be returned or exchanged for any reason.
We cannot embroider officially licensed university logos. Custom department logos and original artwork are welcome, provided you have the rights to use them.
No. Embroidered items cannot be returned or refunded for any reason. Double-check your size, name spelling, and coat color before placing an embroidered order.
