Cotton naturally wrinkles much more easily than synthetic fibers, so yes. Synthetic fibers like polyester are often used to make "wrinkle resistant" fabrics, but many labs required 100% cotton so this isn't possible.

What if it doesn't fit?

We publish detailed size charts to make sure you find the right fit the first time. You just need to check it against your own measurements. However, the lab coats can be returned or exchanged if you cover the shipping and restocking cost (usually around $12 total in the USA).

Will my lab accept these?

Can these be dyed other colors?

Yes! We've already had customers send in photo of these dyed black and green. The only catch is that the stitching is synthetic (for strength) so it will always be white. Tye-dyed lab coat here we come!

This lab coat is made from 100% cotton and all-metal snaps, which is accepted in most standard laboratory environments including introductory chemistry and biology lab classes. Please check with your lab safety officer for compatibility.

Fire:

100% Cotton provides better protection against flames than polyester or poly-cotton mixtures because polyester will melt to your skin and prevent emergency lab coat removal. 100% cotton is not “FR”, “flame-retardant” or “fire-proof”, and will burn slowly if exposed to intense flames. If your lab requires “FR” lab coats, get on our email list for our future release with flame retardant materials.

Acids:

Most lab coat materials, including 100% cotton, absorb strong acids and may develop holes from exposure. Always wear a neoprene, rubber, or PVC apron and long acid-resistant gloves on top of your lab coat when handling strong acids.

Goodness. Not only is this lab coat functional, it’s STYLISH! I received mine as a gift from my parents, and it was put to use immediately! The knit cuffs are comfy and don’t get in the way, there’s plenty of pockets, and the coat is structured for great mobility. I’ve had issues with previous coats being too small in the shoulders, or the sleeves are too long if the shoulders fit. None of that here. I do get a little warm in it, but that’s more of an issue with the chemistry department of my university. Overall, amazing lab coat. When I need a new one in the future, I’ll be returning!

Almost The Perfect Lab Coat

The lab coat is really comfortable and fits as I hoped. Even if I were to improperly wash it and shrink it by 3%, it would still fit really nice. The button slots on the inner belt could be a little wider though, as it was difficult to fit the buttons through. It is really thick and warm. The variable-sized pen slots work very well for staying organized and stabilizing the pens. The internal pocket could be a little larger but having it at all is really nice. The phone pocket is the perfect size for my phone, which is inside a case. The zippers feel a little cheap, but I have not had the lab coat long enough to fairly judge. The loop to hang the coat with seems like it could had been a little wider, as the coat itself is pretty heavy, and I am not sure how long the stitching is going to last. Once again though, I have not had the coat long and so am unable to fairly judge it. The tagless design is really nice though! The back pleats are a really great feature and make reaching for things feel effortless. I purposely bought the lab coat one size larger for comfortability, resulting in the sleeves being a little long, so there is just a little bagginess to them. But the cuffs of the sleeves keep them firmly in place without sliding over my hands. The vented rear was a great touch, as sitting down also feels effortless. The lab coat really does have great functionality of mobility. Lastly, I had my name embroidered on it. In regard to text-embroidery, they did a great job! There are very few minor things that keep this lab coat at a 4/5 rating in my opinion.

Best Lab Coat I've Owned

I wanted to wait a couple months of use so I could give an honest review, not just based on first impressions, and I'm still as satisfied as the first day. I am thoroughly impressed with the quality—it's exceptionally comfortable, with perfect weight and excellent fit. The fabric is thick, durable, and surprisingly soft. I bought this for work, but honestly, I'm considering wearing it to dinner parties. It's better quality than most of my actual wardrobe, which says something either about this coat or my life choices. Possibly both.

Really happy!

I purchased the Louis in Medium, black color. I'm 5'9" and 170 lbs and it fits very well - just a touch of extra room (so I can wear a thick sweater underneath in the winter) but not excessive. I love the fitted wrists and variety of pockets - I always have a pair or two of tweezers on hand, and the thinner pocket at the hip is perfect for them. My only wish is that the snaps were a little smoother to operate - they grind a little bit when snapping them. But it's an amazing coat overall and I'd recommend it for sure.

The tapered sleeves are a fantastic touch. I have become pretty tired of lab coat sleeves being a point of contamination or catching on things as I reach across the bench. The genius lab coat fixes that with the tapered sleeves.

The coat is very comfortable. The buttons are sturdy and secure. I feel quite stylish as I try to discover something interesting in the lab.

My one gripe is the zippered access to my trouser pockets is between 4-6 inches too low. I’m not the tallest fella on the lab water bath polo team (5 foot 6) so the zippered access is probably fine for most folks but a less than average height lab coat option might be a good thing. (That or a pony… I’ll leave it up to you.)

Fits beautifully. Love the feel and the sheer versatility. After washing, it may even fit better.
