March Resource - Mastering Lab Meetings:

A new Reddit thread resurfaced the topic of lab meetings and I wanted to pull out the best advice I found, to share with you. Of course, there's no one-size fits all. But these are some fundamentals you should work towards.

  1. Meeting Structure: Try shorter but more frequent meetings, maybe 1 hour, with a mix of presentation, journal club, and troubleshooting sessions. This will keep it more interesting and create more frequent touchpoints for collaboration.
  2. Content: Give time for open discussions, constructive feedback, and sharing of recent updates and issues. Encourage presenting both successful and unsuccessful experiments for troubleshooting. Learn from failure, not just success.
  3. Agenda and Participation: Have a clear agenda for the meeting sent out at least 1 day beforehand and allow all lab members to actively participate. Consider a pre-set, rotating schedule so everyone can be well-prepared coming into the meeting.
  4. Note-taking: Make sure at least one person is taking detailed notes on the presented updates, issues discussed, feedback provided, and any action items or follow-ups required. Send this out to everyone immediately after the meeting and make the notes available in a shared cloud document. Anyone receiving feedback should also be taking copious notes in real-time.

              Just for fun:

A little Easter candy in the lab never hurt anyone, right?

              March behind-the-scenes news:

Our first 2000 lab coats just docked in LA on March 4th and should get to our warehouse by mid-March so we can start shipping them out! Over 1000 of them have already been pre-sold. Follow us on Instagram for behind the scenes details on the manufacturing process!

We're also almost finished with updating our branding. New colors and styles will match better with our mission and identity. So you might notice a few updates!
