April Resource: Stand Up For Science Update

On March 7th, scientists were again compelled to gather and speak out against drastic research funding cuts implemented without regard to scientific merit while simultaneously boosting TV personalities and supplement influencers with few credible qualifications to positions of authority.

I was not able to personally attend this year, but our social media manager @mellythesciencegeek was a part of the organizing committee and represented us there. If you haven't gotten involved yet, here are the 3 best ways to start helping:

Upcoming STEM Holidays/Events

March 31st - National Bunsen Burner Day

Every year on March 31st, National Bunsen Burner Day commemorates the birthday of German chemist Robert Wilhelm Eberhard von Bunsen. He changed laboratories around the world with his invention of the Bunsen burner in 1854. Since then, his invention continues to be an important tool in chemistry labs and helps students and professionals understand science. There are a lot of ways to celebrate this event. You can start by learning the concept behind the Bunsen burner. Share your Bunsen burner experiences from science class or in the lab with your friends, family, colleagues, or on social media with the hashtag #NationalBunsenBurnerDay!

April 3rd - National Robotics Week

National Robotics Week is celebrated in the month of April. It aims to promote and inspire students in STEM-related fields all around the world to share their fun experiences with robotics. Celebrate this day by building a LEGO robot, or programming a more advanced one with a Raspberry Pi!

👉 See our science and engineering holidays list to find more reasons (and seasons) to celebrate.

Behind the scenes at Genius Lab Gear:

Expect lab coat sizes restocked in 3 months

We've been out of stock of several black sizes for weeks now. The good news is the restock batch is already moving and we should be able to ship those in June this year. If you have a group order, please email us so we can get it set up and reserve the stock ahead of time for you.

Personal update from Derek

I'm a dad now! Our baby came a few weeks early but she's doing great. Things might move a little slowly around here for the next few months, but I'm already reading her space and science books to be my future lab partner. She can probably memorize the planets by her 1st birthday, right?
